PsiKokoro

(a psychologist for Japan)

A daruma on the beach

七転び八起き

(nana korobi ya oki)

"If you fall seven times, rise eight times!"

The daruma never falls, it always returns upright when knocked over. It is a symbol of optimism, perseverance, and determination.

About me

My name is Rebecca Farusi. I graduated in psychology from the University of Florence, and practice as a registered psychologist of Lombardy, section A n.23144.

I specialized in Ethnopsychotherapy, with a Psychodynamic approach and Ethnopsychotherapeutic focus, at the post-graduate Sagara School of Psychotherapy in Pisa.

I am trained in Mindful Eating and sleep counselling for children.

I am certified by the University for Foreigners of Siena as a DITALS (1st level) Italian language instructor, to teach Italian to Japanese people.

I graduated as an opera singer (soprano) from the L. Boccherini Higher Institute of Musical Studies of Lucca (a state-recognized conservatory).

I hold a master’s degree in Forensic Science (Criminology, Investigation, Security, and Intelligence) from the Sapienza University of Rome.

I currently live in Italy and work both online and in person as a Psychologist and a Psychotherapist.

With assistance from cultural-linguistic mediators I also offer psychological support to Japanese citizens and citizens of other countries living in Italy.

I lived and worked in Osaka, Japan, for five years. I speak fluent Japanese and I am intimately familiar with Japanese customs and traditions. I returned to Italy in 2018. After beginning my training at Sagara, I decided to start an online mental health support service for Italian people living in Japan.

I know from personal experience how difficult and stressful it can be to live in a cultural and social context wholly different from one’s native environment, which can result in not only linguistic difficulties, but also working, relational, and emotional issues. I would like to take advantage of my professional skills and field knowledge of Japanese society to assist those who feel they need mental health support and counselling.

How I work

Choosing to start a path of psychological support is the first step towards solving the problem. Understanding the illnesses that afflict us, in fact, makes us aware that it is possible to face difficulties and overcome them, and thus enables us to learn new and more positive ways of approaching everyday life.

Each psychological session is personal and lasts about 50 minutes.

The objectives are to understand and treat the psychological, relational and emotional problems that negatively affect the mental well-being of the person, problems which cause great discomfort and stress.

The overall duration of the journey may vary according to the patient's needs and the psychological assessment.

The sessions are held online from Monday to Friday, via video calling platforms (Skype, Zoom, Google Meet), or with Line or WhatsApp video calling.

On request it is also possible to arrange sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Payment can be made with Paypal, or bank transfer to my Japanese or Italian current accounts and will be determined and agreed on during the first interview.
